Lolita clothing line progress

Progress of lolita clothing line is doing well and now I have some pictures to share. Some of these will be on the webshop ready to order and some are meant for this summer's con sales (I will talk about those later).

Rose petals (above) are one of the future lolita clothings in progress. This type of dress will be very suitable for short women (like myself) because of waist fitting curve look.

This cape is one of my favorites for guro or shiro lolita look. It has quite haunted look but still cute with frills on the hem. The colour is natural white so little bit yellowish than pure white. The fabric has two fabric layers and the top one has holes in it.

Classic lolita was one of the looks I promised to make and you will get it. This is one of the firsts: Rose dream skirt. Lovely creamy flowers all around the skirt and ribbons on the sides.

I will post more pictures when I finish sewing and photo shooting them.

Chiringo's lolita clothing

I have concentrated lately more to Chiringo's clothing line. While it's still quite small I will make it more bigger this year. Now I'm working on to make lolita clothing line to fit cute styled jewelry in Chiringo shop.
First styles to arrive will be casual, classic, and sweet lolita. After that will come gothic and punk lolita clothes.

Here is some peaks of some very lovely prints what can be seen in lolita line.

As usual Chiringo's clothes come in many sizes and styles but if you don't found the one you are looking for then you can order tailor-made which can have any size and style to fit you.

I hope you all will be looking for them as much as I am! :)

Fake food jewelry

Pretend food, wax food, artificial food, faux food, replica food, imitation food, food replicas, false foods, food fakes, and simulated food... However you call them they all share the same history.

All fake food jewelry and decorations has the same starting point in Japan. Fake food was originally meant to give more visual info about restaurants' dishes than plain photos and text. Also the fake food dishes were placed so that customers could see them when passing by restaurants and would be easier to draw in to restaurants.
First time replicas were used in 1945 when Americans and Europeans traveled to Japan to help with the rebuilding efforts after World war II. Because the foreigners didn't understand Japan's language these replica foods were easy and helpful way to get idea what the dishes was having.
After that the replicas has been popular as an accessories in any forms eg. jewelry. Replicas has been most popular in lolita and decora fashions.

Chiringo also has sweet bakery jewelries in many forms eg. necklaces, bracelets, rings and earrings.

Most of the jewelry is made from polymer clay. The clay has very flexibility form and gives the bakery sweet jewelries very realistic look.

I, myself can't resist when I see food jewelry and it seems that I'm not the only one. Food jewelry has been very famous past couple years around world and I don't see a reason why it wouldn't last.
One f the reasons why food jewelry is very famous is it's versatility. Food jewelry can be used eg. with lolita styles like under:

Haku dragon figure progress

I felt like sharing some pictures about how I made Haku (from Spirited away) dragon figure.

First as you can see I wrapped some tape around itself to seek the basic structure of the dragon's body. Looks like a seahorse! ;D

When I felt I was ready to figure out some lines for the legs I put some wire in right places to present legs.
Now I finally get to the longest part what is shaping overall shape and muscles with oven baked polymer clay. I usually use Super Sculpey's grey or original (beige) clays.

In this case the dragon's upper body and head are so heavy I needed to make some supportive structure. The wire is placed from neck to tail.

When I get muscles in place I smoothed them with my fingers. It's easier to smooth when your hands are little bit warm. (my hands are always so freaking cold so I need to knead polymer clay more to get it smooth to bend).

Because Haku has this scale shape I made it with art knife.

After that came the tiny legs. (What was holding the huge amount of pressure...)

This is how the dragon looked from under. This is also when I baked the dragon in oven first time.

Side profile. Still quite basic looking.

Little bit detailing the face area. I made holes for the little things like ears and horns. That way I can make them to be separated. This of course isn't needed if you are planning to make only one figure and not to make molds for mass producing. Making more details to the dragon was easier because I baked the basic structure before it.

Damn long and tiny whiskers! (I dunno how I can mold and cast those....). Haku's long hair(?) is also added in basic form.

For a finishing touch I made Chihiro to ride Haku the dragon. The girl's tummy is hollow so it can be remewed from Haku if wanted. Lot of sanding with Dremel and sandpaper was used in progress to get nice surface. After this stage will be mold making, casting and painting. Let's see when I get to it.... Hope you liked to follow this progress!

Snow utopia-contest

I have always liked to hang out in Deviantart.com and spent my time in the largest art community of internet. This time I participated Monthly Challenge 101 group's contest what's theme was Snow utopia. And I actually won it! Yey! :D

I wanted to make illustration about my characters Kiyoko and Kichiro from my manga Gin Shinju. Snow utopias was mentioned be about things that people like the most about winter. I have always liked snow fighting and creating stuff from snow.

Here is the article about the contest: http://www.deviantart.com/journal/December-2014-Challenge-Winners-506921354

Monthly Challenge 101: "Their Snow Utopia is snow fights! I always loved snow fights as a child, they were fun! I feel that this picture was done very well and had a lot to this image. I love all of detail in the clothing. I think it is a wonderful image and it is quite fun to look at!"

CrazyColorArtist: "Your contest entry for Snow Utopia at MonthlyChallenge101 was amazing! I don't think that I could have done any better! "

PC game called Battlestation: Humanity's last hope

One of the menu UI designs.

It's been while when I wrote about something and yeah I have been very busy. Now I want to share something that I have been involved in. It's Bugbyte game company's first PC game called Battlestation.

The game is a real-time sci-fi strategy tower defense game, inspired by Babylon 5 and FTL. Set in a universe, where 3 other species and an unknown threat are nearby, you are in command of the only defense humans have left. Take command of the Battlestation, customize and build your own weapons and fleet, and make diplomacy with other species. Your every decision will culminate into one epic last battle, where based on your decisions you might be fighting the unknown threat alone or with allies.

My job is to mainly design characters, UI, illustrations and book layout. The game isn't ready yet but it has been already in the Finland's biggest game interviewer's site: http://dome.fi/pelit/ajankohtaista/erikoinen-suomipeli-on-kuin-babylon-5n-ja-ftln-ristisiitos

While you are waiting the game you can view more illustrations and read stories in www.battlestation.fi
Hope you will like it!
